Procurement of Tablet for implementation of Dynamic QR Code (in Modified DARPAN Application) in Departmental Post Offices

The Department of Posts (DOP), under the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, under File no. Te-51/10/2020-Tech-Part is gearing up to enhance its services with the introduction of dynamic QR code payment solutions in its DARPAN application. With the aim of modernizing its operations and improving customer experience, the department has issued a directive to all Chief Postmasters General (CPMGs) regarding the procurement of tablets to facilitate this technological upgrade.

The dynamic QR code payment solution, developed by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), is expected to be integrated into the DARPAN application by February 2024. This innovative solution will enable secure and efficient transactions at Point of Sale (POS) counters within Departmental Offices.


To ensure the smooth implementation of this initiative, each General Post Office (GPO) or Head Office (HO) is instructed to procure tablets for at least one POS counter per establishment. These tablets must adhere to specific technical specifications outlined by the Technology Division of the Department of Posts.


The specifications include:


Operating System: Android 11 and above

RAM: Minimum 4GB

ROM: Minimum 64GB (expandable)

Processor: Octa-Core

Connectivity: 4G/5G, Bluetooth

Camera: Minimum 8-megapixel resolution

Screen Size: Minimum 10 inches

Display: TFT, 1080p resolution, Capacitive Multi-touch

Battery Capacity: Minimum 5400mAh

Additionally, the tablets must support thermal printing and biometric scanning functionalities, essential for seamless transaction processing and customer authentication.


This initiative underscores the Department of Posts' commitment to leveraging technology to modernize its services and improve efficiency. By embracing dynamic QR code payment solutions, the department aims to enhance convenience for customers and streamline its operations across its vast network of postal offices.


The deadline for procurement and compliance reporting is set for 15th February 2024, underscoring the urgency and importance of this initiative. With the support and cooperation of all CPMGs, the Department of Posts is poised to achieve another milestone in its journey towards digital transformation and service excellence.


This directive is issued with the approval of the competent authority, signaling the department's unwavering commitment to embracing innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of its stakeholders and the public at large.
