India Post Invites Applications for GIS Cell in CEPT, Bengaluru under Digital Address Ecosystem Initiative

New Delhi, 9 July 2025 – The Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has issued a call for applications from eligible postal officers and officials for positions in the newly formed DAC/GIS Cell at the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology (CEPT), Bengaluru.

This strategic move is part of the Department’s Digital Address Ecosystem (DAE) initiative aimed at developing a standardized, geo-coded addressing system for the nation. The project envisions delivering simplified, location-based addressing solutions to citizens and institutions, thereby establishing “Address as a Service” (AaaS) in India.

Composition of GIS Cell

To execute this vision, the DAC/GIS Cell will operate with the following dedicated team:

·       1 Assistant Director

·       3 Postal Assistants

Eligibility & Skill Requirements

The Department seeks applications from officers and officials in the cadre of Assistant Director Postal Services and Postal Assistants who possess relevant skills in GIS, web development, application security, and mapping technologies. The preferred technology stack includes:

·       Mapping Libraries: Leaflet

·       Web Framework: Full Stack Frameworks

·       Database & Application Security: Relevant tools and practices in secure application development

Application & Selection Process

·       Start Date: 11 July 2025

·       Last Date to Apply: 26 July 2025

·       Selection Mode: Through screening and interview by a departmental panel.

Work Location & Posting

·       The primary workplace will be CEPT, Bengaluru.

·       In deserving cases, candidates with the required technical expertise may be allowed to work remotely from their current location, subject to infrastructure availability.

·       Selected candidates will be posted on CEPT’s establishment and will receive allowances based on their place of posting (either Bengaluru or current location).
