IT Modernization Project 2012 | Notes On DCF (Data Center Facility) and DRC ( Disaster Recovery Center)

 The Eight Silos of India Post IT Modernization Project of India Post are:

  1. The Primary Data Center Facility (DCF) at Navi Mumbai & Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at PTC, Mysuru
  2. Core System Integrator (CSI)
  3. Change Management (CM)
  4. Network Integrator (NI)
  5. Financial System Integrator (FSI)
  6. Rural System Integrator (RSI)
  7. Rural Hardware (RH)
  8. Mail Operations Hardware (MoH) stream
Data Centre Facility (DCF) provided by Reliance 

(i) Maintenance of Primary Data Center of India post at Navi Mumbai that started on 03-04-2013

(ii)Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) at PTC, Mysore that started on 15-05-2015

Connectivity & related Hardware will be provided by the NI vendor.

The Primary DC will also house the Department’s Network Operating Centre (NOC), which will be managed by NI.


1. Data Centre Facility (DCF): (Data Centre (DC) and Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC)) The Department has moved from standalone local server-based operations to a uniform central server-based operation. Providing Data Centre for hosting Department's Primary Data Centre. The Vendor will provide the space, services and facilities. Servers will be installed by the concerned Sls. Connectivity & related Hardware will be provided by the NI vendor. The Primary DC will also house the Department's Network Operating Centre (NOC), which will be manage by NI. 

The Data Center located at the M/s Reliance's facility at Navi Mumbai. Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) to be housed in Department's own building at CEPT Mysore. The Vendor will provide Services and Facilities & manage the DRC. Servers will be installed concerned Sls. Connectivity & related Hardware will be provided by the NI vendor.

The DC vendor will build, operate and transfer Disaster Recovery Centre ( at PTC Mysore) to meet DOP requirements, Operations and maintenance of DCF (Data Centre Facility) and DR

Site for a period of 5 years 24x7 onsite support as per SLAS The Primary Data Centre has been set up at Navi Mumbai to store Integrated Application Software and centralized data for all the services offered by the Department of Posts and is functional since 3rd April, 2013. 

A Disaster Recovery Centre, for providing emergency back up to the Data Centre, is being set up in Mysore and is operational since 15th May, 2015.
