UIDAI Version 3.3.4.2/218-6: DOB Updates Disabled and New Biometric Verification Indicators Introduced
UIDAI Version 3.3.4.2/218-6 Brings Major Changes to DOB and Biometric Verification
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced significant changes in the latest UIDAI Version 3.3.4.2/218-6, aimed at strengthening the Aadhaar enrolment and update process and improving biometric verification.
🔴 DOB Change Disabled Through ECMP
One of the major changes in the new version is the permanent disabling of the Date of Birth (DOB) change option through ECMP.
With this update, operators will no longer be able to modify a resident's DOB through the ECMP application. This change is expected to provide greater control over DOB-related updates and help prevent incorrect or unauthorized modifications.
🔐 Changes in Fingerprint and Iris Verification
The latest version also introduces an important change in the way fingerprint and iris verification results are displayed.
When a resident's fingerprint is captured or onboarded, the actual fingerprint and iris images will no longer be visible to the operator.
Instead, the application will display verification indicators:
- 🟢 Green Arrow/Box – Indicates that the biometric verification is correct.
- 🔴 Red Arrow/Box – Indicates that the biometric verification is incorrect.
- Percentage (%) – A percentage value will also be displayed below the verification box to provide a clearer indication of the verification result.
🛡️ Improved Privacy and Security
The removal of visible fingerprint and iris images is an important privacy and security enhancement. Operators can now rely on the verification indicators and percentage values rather than viewing the resident's biometric images directly.
The changes introduced in UIDAI Version 3.3.4.2/218-6 are expected to make biometric verification more secure while simplifying the interpretation of verification results.
All concerned Aadhaar operators and supervisors should take note of these changes and use the latest version of the UIDAI application as instructed.
