From Heavy Losses to Strong Profit Growth

The financial journey of IPPB shows a clear turnaround. After reaching its maximum loss of ₹334.01 crore in FY 2019-20, the bank steadily reduced its losses in the following two years.

The turnaround became visible in FY 2022-23, when IPPB reported its first annual net profit of ₹20.16 crore. Profit increased further to ₹34.23 crore in FY 2023-24 and then rose sharply to ₹133.86 crore in FY 2024-25.

Thus, IPPB's profit increased by nearly four times in FY 2024-25 compared with FY 2023-24, highlighting the strengthening of its financial performance.

FY 2024-25 Performance

For FY 2024-25, IPPB reported income of approximately ₹2,148.12 crore against expenditure of around ₹2,014.27 crore, resulting in a net profit of approximately ₹133.86 crore.

The progression from a loss of ₹334.01 crore at its peak in FY 2019-20 to a profit of ₹133.86 crore in FY 2024-25 represents a substantial improvement in the bank's financial position.

A Significant Financial Turnaround

IPPB's financial trajectory can be summarised in four important milestones:

  • Maximum loss: ₹334.01 crore in FY 2019-20
  • First profitable year: FY 2022-23 — ₹20.16 crore
  • FY 2023-24: ₹34.23 crore profit
  • FY 2024-25: ₹133.86 crore profit

The figures demonstrate IPPB's transition from the investment and expansion phase of its early years towards a more financially sustainable operation.

India Post Payments Bank's journey from consecutive losses to a ₹133.86 crore net profit in FY 2024-25 marks a notable turnaround in the financial performance of the country's payments banking network.
