Centralised Command and Control Centre (CCCC): Strengthening End-to-End Monitoring of India Post’s Digital Services
Centralised Command and Control Centre (CCCC): Strengthening Monitoring and Support for India Post’s IT Systems
The Centralised Command and Control Centre (CCCC) was launched by the Secretary, Department of Posts, on 28 August 2020, as an important initiative to strengthen the monitoring and management of technology-driven services across the Department of Posts.
The CCCC plays a key role in monitoring critical application services, particularly APT (Advanced Postal Technology) and IMS (Insurance Management Solutions), while also providing technical support to end users across the Department.
Centralised Monitoring of IT Services
The primary objective of the CCCC is to provide a centralised view of the health and performance of critical IT services. It facilitates continuous monitoring of various technology components supporting postal operations.
The monitoring extends across different layers of the IT environment, including:
- Application services
- Network infrastructure
- Database systems
- Application and middleware layers
- Other supporting technology components
This comprehensive approach helps in identifying service disruptions, performance issues and technical problems at different layers of the technology stack.
Monitoring APT and IMS Applications
CCCC provides monitoring support for major technology platforms such as Advanced Postal Technology (APT) and Insurance Management Solutions (IMS). Continuous monitoring of these applications helps ensure that critical services remain available to users across the Department.
By bringing monitoring activities under a centralised framework, the CCCC helps technical teams obtain better visibility into the overall health of these systems.
Support to End Users
Another important responsibility of the CCCC is to assist end users within the Department of Posts. When users encounter application or technology-related issues, the CCCC can help in identifying the underlying problem and facilitate appropriate technical support.
This centralised support mechanism helps bridge the gap between users at operational locations and technical teams responsible for applications, databases, networks and infrastructure.
End-to-End Technology Monitoring
One of the key strengths of the CCCC is its end-to-end monitoring approach. Instead of looking only at the application level, monitoring encompasses the various layers that contribute to the functioning of a service.
This includes monitoring the application, network, database and other software and technology layers, enabling technical teams to identify whether an issue originates from the application, database, network or another component.
A Step Towards Technology-Driven Postal Services
With the increasing dependence of India Post on digital platforms and integrated technology solutions, centralised monitoring has become essential for maintaining service availability and reliability.
The Centralised Command and Control Centre (CCCC) therefore serves as an important component of the Department's technology ecosystem by bringing together monitoring, incident identification, technical assistance and operational visibility under a centralised framework.
The initiative reflects the Department of Posts' continued focus on strengthening its digital infrastructure and ensuring reliable technology-enabled services for employees and citizens.
