Karnataka Circle Initiates Review to Rationalize Branch Office Distribution Across Sub Divisions
The Karnataka Postal Circle has initiated an administrative review to ensure a more balanced distribution of Branch Offices (BOs) among Sub Divisions across the Circle. The move is aimed at improving administrative efficiency, workload distribution, and effective supervision of Branch Offices.
According to the communication issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle, it has been observed that 22 Sub Divisions currently have more than 80 Branch Offices under their administrative control. To address this imbalance, all Regional Offices have been requested to examine the existing distribution of Branch Offices within their respective Divisions and undertake a rationalization exercise wherever required.
During the review, Regions have been advised to consider several important factors before proposing any redistribution. These include administrative convenience, distance between the Sub Divisional Headquarters and the offices, existing mail arrangements, geographical proximity, and other operational considerations. The objective is to ensure that any reorganization enhances efficiency without affecting postal operations.
As part of the exercise, Branch Offices under Sub Divisions with more than 80 BOs may be redistributed to other suitable Sub Divisions within the same Division, wherever feasible. This is expected to help achieve a balanced workload among Sub Divisional Heads and strengthen administrative control.
The Circle Office has instructed all Regions to complete the exercise and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) along with the revised jurisdiction of the affected Sub Divisions to the Circle Office by 07 August 2026.
This review reflects the Department's continued efforts to optimize its administrative structure, improve operational effectiveness, and ensure efficient management of postal services across Karnataka Circle.
