POSB Death Claims: Department Advises ECS Credit for Faster Settlement
Department of Posts Recommends ECS Mode for Faster Settlement of POSB Death Claims
To ensure quicker and more efficient settlement of Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) death claims, the Department of Posts has advised all concerned offices to adopt Electronic Clearing Service (ECS) mode for crediting claim amounts in eligible savings schemes.
It has been confirmed that POSB credit through ECS is functioning successfully for several small savings schemes, including Recurring Deposit (RD), Time Deposit (TD), National Savings Certificate (NSC), Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP), Monthly Income Scheme (MIS), and Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS).
In view of the successful implementation of ECS credit, all offices have been requested to utilize this facility for the settlement of death claims pertaining to these schemes. However, Savings Bank (SB), Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA), and Public Provident Fund (PPF) accounts have been excluded from this arrangement.
The adoption of ECS mode is expected to provide several benefits, including:
- Faster credit of claim amounts to beneficiaries.
- Hassle-free and seamless payment process.
- Reduced delays associated with other payment methods.
- Improved customer service and quicker settlement of claims.
The Department has emphasized that adopting ECS for eligible POSB death claims will streamline the payment process and ensure timely financial assistance to the legal claimants during difficult times.
All concerned officials are requested to implement this system for eligible death claim settlements to facilitate prompt and efficient service delivery.
