Department of Posts Invites Scrutiny of PwBD Reservation in PS Group 'B' LDCE Promotions from Vacancy Year 2016-17

The Department of Posts has issued an important communication regarding the implementation of reservation in promotion for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) in the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to the Postal Service Group 'B' cadre from the vacancy year 2016-17 onwards. The decision has been taken in compliance with the DoPT Office Memorandum dated 28 December 2023 extending reservation in promotion for eligible PwBD employees.

Reservation to Be Extended Retrospectively

The Department has decided to assess the eligibility of PwBD candidates based on their performance in the LDCEs already conducted for the following vacancy years:

  • 2016-17 – LDCE held on 18 December 2016
  • 2017-18, 2018, 2019 & 2020 – LDCE held on 29 November 2020
  • 2021, 2022 & 2023 – LDCE held on 4 June 2023

The reservation benefit will be extended to eligible PwBD candidates in accordance with the applicable rules.

Tentative List Published

A tentative list of eligible PwBD candidates who appeared in the above examinations has been published for information and scrutiny. Candidates are advised to verify their particulars carefully.

If any correction or modification is required, the concerned candidate may submit objections through the respective Circle Authorities by 8 July 2026 (5:30 PM).

Role of Postal Circles

All Postal Circles have been directed to:

  • Verify and authenticate the published list of PwBD candidates.
  • Examine any corrections or additions submitted by affected candidates.
  • Forward the authenticated information to the Directorate by 10 July 2026.

Clarification for 2021–2023 Vacancy Years

The Department has clarified that reservation in promotion for eligible PwBD candidates relating to the 2021, 2022 and 2023 vacancy years has already been granted based on the LDCE held on 4 June 2023. Candidates having any grievance regarding these years should submit their representation separately through the concerned Postal Circle.
