SSC CGL 2026 Notification Released: Apply Online for 12,256 Vacancies Across India

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the notification for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 for recruitment to various prestigious Group “B” and Group “C” posts in Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Organizations. Important Dates for SSC CGL 2026

  • Online Application Start Date: 21 May 2026

  • Last Date to Apply: 22 June 2026 (11:00 PM)

  • Last Date for Fee Payment: 23 June 2026

  • Application Correction Window: 29 June to 01 July 2026

  • Tier-I Examination: August–September 2026

  • Tier-II Examination: December 2026

Major Posts Included in SSC CGL 2026

The recruitment includes several highly sought-after Central Government posts such as:

  • Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)

  • Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO)

  • Assistant Section Officer (ASO)

  • Inspector of Income Tax

  • Inspector (Central Excise)

  • Inspector Posts

  • Sub-Inspector in CBI

  • Assistant Enforcement Officer

  • Junior Statistical Officer

  • Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant

  • Tax Assistant

  • Auditor

  • Accountant

The notification also includes posts in the Department of Posts under Pay Level-4 and Inspector Posts under Pay Level-7.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University. Certain posts such as Junior Statistical Officer and Statistical Investigator Grade-II require specific qualifications in Mathematics or Statistics.

Age Limit

The age limit varies according to the post:

  • 18–27 Years

  • 18–30 Years

  • 20–30 Years

  • 18–32 Years

Age relaxation is available for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and other eligible categories as per Government rules.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC Candidates: ₹100

  • Women, SC, ST, PwBD & Ex-Servicemen: Exempted from fee payment.

Selection Process

The SSC CGL 2026 Examination will be conducted in two tiers:

Tier-I Examination

The Tier-I exam will include:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning

  • General Awareness

  • Quantitative Aptitude

  • English Comprehension

There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tier-II Examination

Tier-II will include:

  • Mathematical Abilities

  • Reasoning & General Intelligence

  • English Language & Comprehension

  • General Awareness

  • Computer Knowledge Test

  • Data Entry Speed Test

Separate papers will also be conducted for Statistics and Finance/Economics related posts.

How to Apply

Candidates can submit applications online through the SSC’s new website and mobile application. Applicants are advised to complete One-Time Registration (OTR) before filling the application form.
