India Post LMS Update 2026: Advance Leave and Backdated Absence Entry Facility Added

LMS Updated: Major Changes in Leave Application Rules for GDS & Departmental Employees

The Leave Management System (LMS) has introduced two important updates for both GDS and Departmental employees. These new changes are aimed at providing greater flexibility and improving leave management processes across the department.

Key Changes Implemented in LMS

1. Unauthorised Absence Entry Allowed for Last 6 Months

Employees can now enter unauthorised absence details with a start date going back up to the previous six months.

This facility is available for:

  • Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS)
  • Departmental Employees

Earlier, such entries were restricted for older dates, causing difficulties in regularisation and record maintenance. With this update, pending unauthorised absence cases from the last six months can now be processed more conveniently through LMS.

2. Leave Application Allowed 150 Days in Advance

A major enhancement has also been introduced in advance leave application functionality.

Employees can now apply for leave with a start date up to:

150 days in advance

This change will help employees plan:

  • Long vacations
  • Medical leave
  • Training-related leave
  • Family functions and personal commitments

more effectively without waiting for shorter application windows.

Benefits of the New LMS Changes

  • Improved flexibility in leave planning
  • Easier regularisation of absence records
  • Better workforce management
  • Reduced last-minute leave requests
  • Enhanced employee convenience

The updates are expected to streamline leave administration and reduce operational difficulties faced by employees and administrators.
