India Post Introduces New System for Personalized Cheque Books (PCB) in POSB Accounts
The Department of Posts has issued a new order regarding the pickup, booking, and dispatch process of Personalized Cheque Books (PCB) for Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) account holders. The order was released by the Financial Services (FS) Division, Dak Bhawan, New Delhi on 04 May 2026.

New Vendor Appointed for Personalized Cheque Books
India Post has onboarded a new vendor, Utility Forms Private Ltd., for printing, personalization, and supply of Personalized Cheque Books for POSB Savings Account customers.
The vendor will operate through two operational sites:
- Delhi
- Tamil Nadu (Chennai)
Nodal Officers and Designated Post Offices
To ensure smooth pickup and dispatch operations, the Department has designated specific nodal officers and nodal post offices.

The barcode range allocated is:
JL81850001xIN to JL82350000xIN
A total of 5 lakh barcode numbers have been generated for this purpose by the Mail Operations (MO) Division.
How the Personalized Cheque Book Process Will Work
According to Annexure-I of the order, the complete process for Personalized Cheque Books has been explained in detail.
Step-by-Step Process
1. Customer Request at Post Office
Customers can request Personalized Cheque Books by visiting CBS-enabled post offices.
India Post has also informed that this facility will later be made available through:
- Mobile Banking
- Internet Banking
Separate instructions for online request facilities will be issued in the future.
2. Mandatory KYC Verification
Before placing cheque book requests in Finacle, post offices must ensure that:
- KYC details are updated
- Customer address is correct and current
This has been made mandatory to avoid non-delivery of cheque books.
3. Daily File Generation and Vendor Transfer
All Personalized Cheque Book requests generated during the day will be compiled and securely sent to the cheque printing vendor through SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol).
4. Printing and Packaging by Vendor
The vendor will:
- Print the cheque books
- Prepare cheque book kits
- Include:
- 10 cheque leaves
- Record slip
- Requisition slip
The vendor will also prepare a soft copy containing article and barcode details for bulk booking.
5. Pickup and Dispatch Through Speed Post
The designated nodal post offices will:
- Pick up cheque books from vendor premises
- Book and dispatch them on the same day
- Use Speed Post under service category
India Post will bear the postage charges for dispatch.
Important Instructions for Nodal Offices
The Department has directed nodal offices to:
- Maintain proper quality checks
- Ensure zero errors in dispatch processes
- Handle undelivered cheque books carefully
Undelivered cheque books will be returned to the concerned post office where the customer’s account is maintained.
