The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, announced an important step to improve the citizen experience in availing passport-related services by extending the facility to apply for Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs) to all online Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) across India.

The facility was introduced from 28 September 2022 to address the unexpected surge in demand for PCCs and increase the availability of appointment slots.
