As per the instructions issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster-General, Karnataka Circle, the regions and divisions have been asked to conduct planned, time-bound activities to educate the public about postal financial services and encourage wider participation.

Financial Literacy Camps and Dak Chaupals

Financial literacy camps are to be organised at each Sub-Division and Head Post Office, preferably in the form of Dak Chaupals, at accessible locations with adequate publicity. These programmes will create awareness about various POSB schemes, their benefits, eligibility criteria, interest rates, deposit limits and nomination facilities.

The camps will also focus on the importance of savings, financial planning, financial security and digital financial services. Presentations, posters, banners, leaflets and other information, education and communication (IEC) materials may be used to explain the schemes. Wherever feasible, programmes may be conducted at schools, colleges, government institutions, Gram Panchayats, community centres, markets and other public places.

Street Plays to Promote Financial Inclusion

Each division has been advised to organise at least one street play, or Nukkad Natak, lasting approximately 10–15 minutes at a suitable public location with significant public footfall.

The performances will highlight the importance of savings and financial planning, the benefits of Post Office Savings Schemes, nomination facilities and the safe handling of financial documents. They will also spread awareness about financial frauds, phishing attempts and fraudulent calls and messages, encouraging citizens to approach post offices for authentic information and services.

The street plays should preferably be conducted in the local language to ensure effective communication with the public.

Display of Awareness Videos and Customer Success Stories

Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices have been encouraged to use available televisions, LED screens and digital display boards to showcase awareness videos on POSB schemes and financial inclusion. Short videos explaining savings schemes, customer testimonials and success stories may also be displayed wherever available.

In offices without digital display facilities, posters, standees, banners and printed IEC materials should be prominently exhibited. Customer testimonials and success stories may be used only after obtaining the necessary consent and complying with departmental guidelines.

Reporting and Documentation

Regions and divisions must maintain proper documentation of the activities conducted, including photographs, attendance details, brief reports and other relevant information. The required data must also be entered in the Google Sheet shared by the Directorate within the prescribed timeline for consolidation and further submission.

The Karnataka Circle has emphasised wide publicity, active participation by field formations and effective implementation of all planned activities on October 13, 2026. The instructions have been accorded top priority with the approval of the competent authority.

Through these initiatives, the Department of Posts aims to strengthen public awareness of postal savings products, promote financial literacy, encourage safe financial practices and extend the reach of financial inclusion services to a wider section of society.
