The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has issued an Office Order dated 22 September 2026 announcing the promotion of Ms. Manisha Sinha (IPoS: 1992) to the post of Director General Postal Services (DGPS).

As per the order, Ms. Manisha Sinha, presently serving as Member (Financial Services), Postal Services Board, has been appointed on promotion to the grade of Director General Postal Services (Apex Scale) of the Indian Postal Service, Group ‘A’. The promotion will take effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post on or after 1 October 2026, following the superannuation of Shri Jitendra Gupta (IPoS: 1989) on 30 September 2026 (AN).
The appointment marks an important change in the senior leadership of the Department of Posts. Ms. Manisha Sinha will take over the responsibilities of Director General Postal Services upon assumption of charge.
The order further states that the charge assumption report may be conveyed in due course. The promotion order has been issued by the Personnel Division, Department of Posts, under File No. 1-6/2025-SPG, dated 22 September 2026.
The order has been circulated to senior officials and various administrative units of the Department of Posts, including Members of the Postal Services Board, Chief Postmasters General, Postal Training Centres and other concerned offices. GM, CEPT, Mysuru has also been requested to upload the order on the India Post website.
