📢 HSG-II Promotion 2026: 45 Postal Officials Promoted in Tamil Nadu Circle
- On the date of promotion, or
- On the date of accrual of the next increment in the lower post.
- The Region allotment is subject to change based on the availability of vacancies.
- Transfer & Posting orders should clearly mention whether the transfer is for more than 180 days or not exceeding 180 days, particularly with a view to regulating TA/DA expenditure for officials who may retire shortly after joining the promotional post.
- Promotion is subject to verification of community certificates wherever applicable.
- The promotion order is subject to further orders that may be passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in SLP(C) No. 30621 of 2011.
- Copies of charge reports are to be forwarded to the concerned offices and Circle Office.
The Tamil Nadu Postal Circle has issued an order for promotion of officials to the post of Higher Selection Grade-II (HSG-II) in the Post Offices, based on the applicable promotion provisions.
The promotion list covers officials working in various divisions/units under Chennai City, Central, Southern and Western Regions. The annexure contains officials selected against UR (Unreserved) vacancies, with their respective Region of working and Region allotted on promotion. The list runs up to 45 officials.
1. Pay fixation option
Officials promoted on a regular basis are entitled to exercise an option for fixation of pay under FR 22(1)(a)(1) either:
The option has to be exercised within one month from the date of promotion and, once exercised, it is final.
2. Posting and allotment
The concerned Region/Division/Unit will issue the necessary allotment and posting orders in accordance with the instructions issued by the Directorate. The Region allotted to an official may also be changed depending upon variations in the vacancy position.
3. Declining the promotion
An official who does not wish to accept the promotion has to submit an unconditional declination letter within 15 days. If the official neither joins the promoted post nor submits a declination within the prescribed period, it will be treated as deemed declination.
An official declining promotion will not receive a fresh offer of promotion for one year from the date of refusal or until the next vacancy arises, whichever is later. Such an official will also lose seniority vis-à-vis juniors who are promoted earlier.
The promotion is subject to applicable vigilance and disciplinary clearance. Officials against whom specified vigilance/disciplinary proceedings are pending should not be relieved for posting without specific orders from the competent office. Officials against whom punishment is currently in force should not be promoted until the currency of the punishment expires.

The annexure includes officials from divisions such as Chennai City North, Tambaram, Nilgiris, Krishnagiri, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Dharmapuri, Kumbakonam, Arakkonam, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Madurai, Salem West, Tiruppur, Karur and Tiruchirappalli, among others. The table provides the employee ID, category, date of birth, selection category, Region of working and Region allotted on promotion.
The promotion to HSG-II represents an important career advancement for the officials concerned. The respective Divisions/Regions will take further action for allotment, posting and joining as per the instructions contained in the promotion order.
