Karnataka Circle Creates DPS (Mails & BD) Post to Strengthen Mail Operations and Business Growth
The Karnataka Circle of the Department of Posts has issued an office order assigning responsibilities to the newly created Director Postal Services (DPS) – Mails & Business Development (BD) following the redeployment of one DPS post from Telangana Circle. The new post is aimed at strengthening mail operations, logistics, and business development across the Circle.

Redeployment of DPS Post
As per the Directorate's orders dated 21 July 2026, one post of Director Postal Services (DPS) has been redeployed from Telangana Circle to Karnataka Circle and designated as DPS (Mails & BD). The Karnataka Circle has now allocated specific responsibilities to the officer with immediate effect until further orders.
Key Responsibilities
The newly designated DPS (Mails & BD) will oversee the following major areas:
- Operations of the four business verticals:
- Mails
- Citizen Centric Services (CCS)
- International Mails
- Parcel
- Monitoring of mail operations through the Circle Mail Monitoring Unit (MMU).
- Operations of the Business Monitoring Unit (BMU).
- Operations of RMS Units, MMS Units, and Foreign Post Office (FPO) until a dedicated Logistics Head is appointed.
Focus on Business Development
Apart from operational responsibilities, the officer will focus on:
- Business Development activities in Bengaluru City.
- Monitoring business performance across all four verticals throughout Karnataka Circle.
- Planning business expansion initiatives.
- Identifying new growth opportunities.
- Coordinating mail and logistics arrangements within Karnataka Circle and with other Circles.
Reporting Structure
The following officers will report directly to DPS (Mails & BD):
- Assistant Director (Business Development)
- Assistant Director (Mail Monitoring Unit)
- Assistant Director (International Mails)
- Assistant Director (Parcel)
Additionally, Manager MMS, SSRM Bengaluru Sorting Division, SRM 'Q' Division, SRM 'HB' Division, and Superintendent, Foreign Post will report to DPS (Mails & BD) for operational matters. Other Group Officers will continue to report to DPS (HQ).
Strengthening Mail and Logistics Operations
The creation of the DPS (Mails & BD) post reflects Karnataka Circle's focus on improving operational efficiency, enhancing logistics coordination, and accelerating business growth. By integrating mail operations with business development under a dedicated senior officer, the Circle aims to strengthen customer service, expand business opportunities, and improve overall performance across its mail and parcel network.
