RPLI Policy Proposal: Documents and Confidential Report Every Agent Must Verify

RPLI Agents Must Carefully Complete Confidential Report Before Submitting Policy Proposal

The Department of Posts has prescribed a Checklist-cum-Confidential Report that must be completed by every Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) Agent/Sales Person while procuring a new RPLI policy. The report plays a vital role in ensuring that policy proposals are genuine, complete, and comply with the underwriting requirements.

The Confidential Report is to be filled only after the proposer has completed the proposal form and should never be disclosed to the proposer.

Documents to Be Verified

Before submitting an RPLI proposal, the agent must verify the necessary supporting documents.

Age Proof

The proposer should submit any one of the accepted age proof documents, such as:

  • Birth Certificate
  • School Certificate/Mark Sheet
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence

Where standard age proof is unavailable, other acceptable documents like Aadhaar Card, Medical Examiner's Certificate, Voter ID, or other approved documents may be considered as per departmental guidelines.

Address and Identity Proof

The agent should verify any one of the prescribed identity and address proof documents, including:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Ration Card
  • Electricity or Water Bill

Confidential Report by the Agent

The Confidential Report requires the RPLI Agent to certify several important aspects, including:

  • Whether the agent is related to the proposer.
  • Whether the proposer has any known financial, physical or mental condition affecting insurability.
  • Whether the proposal form has been properly signed or thumb-impressed.
  • Whether any additional facts need to be brought to the notice of the proposal accepting authority.
  • Whether the proposal is recommended for acceptance.

If the proposal is not recommended, the reasons must be clearly recorded.

Health and Verification

The Agent is also required to confirm:

  • Verification of age proof wherever applicable.
  • General health condition of the proposer.
  • Whether the proposer is suffering from any serious or terminal illness.
  • Whether the required medical examination has been conducted, wherever necessary.

Confidentiality Is Mandatory

The report specifically states that:

  • The Confidential Report must be prepared only after the proposal form has been completed by the proposer.
  • The contents of the report must not be shared or discussed with the proposer under any circumstances.

The Agent must certify these declarations before signing the report.

Importance of the Confidential Report

The Checklist-cum-Confidential Report serves as an important risk assessment document in the RPLI proposal process. It helps ensure proper verification of documents, promotes transparency, prevents fraudulent proposals, and enables the Department to make informed underwriting decisions.

All RPLI Agents and Sales Persons should carefully follow the prescribed checklist and complete the Confidential Report accurately to avoid delays in policy processing and ensure compliance with Departmental guidelines.
