Karnataka Circle Launches eFRM Module to Strengthen Fraud Detection in India Post
Karnataka Circle to Roll Out eFRM Module Under APT 2.0 from July 23
Bengaluru, July 20, 2026: The Department of Posts is set to roll out the electronic Fraud Risk Management (eFRM) Module across Karnataka Circle on 23 July 2026 under the APT 2.0 initiative. The module is designed to strengthen fraud detection and prevention in postal operations, improve vigilance monitoring, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
The eFRM module is an intelligent risk-monitoring system that automatically generates alerts whenever suspicious transactions or activities are detected based on predefined risk parameters. At present, the module includes 19 risk parameters, covering key operational areas such as mail operations, cash handling, bank transactions, and other critical postal services.
How the eFRM Module Works
Whenever a suspicious activity is identified, an alert is automatically generated and sent to the Divisional Office (DO). The Divisional Office can then assign the alert to the concerned Head Post Office (HO) or Sub-Divisional Office (SDO) for detailed verification.
The concerned HO or SDO is required to examine the alert, record observations, findings, and remarks, and submit the report back to the Divisional Office through the module. Based on the submitted report, the Divisional Office verifies the findings and takes the final decision by either closing the alert or confirming it as a fraud case for further action.
Successful Pilot in Mandya Division
Before the statewide rollout, the eFRM module was introduced as a pilot project in Mandya Division on 15 July 2026. Since its implementation, the division has successfully processed more than 500 alerts, demonstrating the effectiveness of the system in identifying and monitoring suspicious activities.
Training Workshop Conducted
To ensure smooth implementation across Karnataka Circle, a workshop and training session has been organized on 20 July 2026 for Head Postmasters, Sub-Divisional Heads, Assistant Superintendents of Posts (ASP), Deputy Superintendents of Posts (DySP), and officials from Divisional and Regional Offices.
The training session aims to familiarize officials with the workflow of the eFRM module, alert handling procedures, reporting mechanisms, and responsibilities at each level.
The rollout of the eFRM module marks another important milestone in the digital transformation of India Post under APT 2.0, enabling proactive fraud detection, faster vigilance response, improved accountability, and greater transparency in postal operations.
