The Department of Posts has issued revised guidelines for the induction training of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and Postman officials, introducing a significant change in the training system across the country. As per the order dated 03 July 2026, induction training for all newly recruited MTS and Postman officials who have not yet undergone training will henceforth be conducted only at Postal Training Centres (PTCs) and Regional Training Centres (RTCs) having hostel/accommodation facilities. The earlier practice of conducting induction training at Workplace Training Centres (WTCs) has been discontinued.
The Department has stated that MTS and Postman officials form the frontline workforce, playing a crucial role in delivering postal, financial, logistics, and citizen-centric services. The revised training framework is intended to strengthen professionalism, customer orientation, and adaptability to emerging technologies.
The first batches under the revised training arrangement are expected to commence from 20 July 2026 at the designated PTCs and RTCs. Detailed training schedules and nomination plans will be issued separately by the respective training centres.
All Postal Circles have been instructed to:
- Ensure timely nomination of all eligible MTS and Postman officials awaiting induction training.
- Fully utilize the training seats allotted by PTCs/RTCs and promptly report any anticipated vacancies.
- Make necessary administrative arrangements, including relieving officials on time and facilitating TA/DA and other logistics.
- Coordinate closely with PTCs and RTCs to complete all pending induction training at the earliest.
The revised guidelines have been issued with the approval of the Secretary (Posts) and are expected to standardize induction training across India while enhancing the overall quality of service delivery in the Department of Posts.
