The corrigendum modifies Para 2(a) of the Office Memorandum dated 25 April 2024, while all other provisions of the earlier orders remain unchanged.
Revised Rates
As per the latest corrigendum, Central Government employees will now be entitled to the following revised benefits:
Children Education Allowance (CEA)
- ₹2,812.50 per month per child (fixed)
- Reimbursement will be provided irrespective of the actual educational expenses incurred by the Government employee.
Hostel Subsidy
- ₹8,437.50 per month per child, or
- Actual expenditure incurred on boarding and lodging, whichever is lower.
Effective Revision
The revision has been made in accordance with the enhancement of Dearness Allowance, ensuring that the admissible rates of CEA and Hostel Subsidy are updated in line with existing Government policy.
No Other Changes
The DoPT has clarified that all other terms and conditions contained in the Office Memoranda dated 17 July 2018 and 25 April 2024 will continue to remain in force. Only the reimbursement rates mentioned in Para 2(a) have been revised through this corrigendum.
Why This Matters
The revision provides enhanced financial support to Central Government employees towards their children's education and hostel expenses. Since these allowances are linked to Dearness Allowance, the updated rates ensure that employees receive improved benefits in line with the latest DA revision.
Employees are advised to note the revised reimbursement limits while submitting claims under the Children Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy schemes.
