The Department of Posts to Conduct NGC DC–DR Drill on 28 June 2026: APT & DREAM Services May Be Temporarily UnavailableThe Department of Posts has announced a scheduled NGC Data Centre–Disaster Recovery (DC–DR) Drill to validate disaster recovery preparedness and ensure uninterrupted service continuity during emergencies. As per the official communication issued on 25 June 2026, the exercise will be carried out on Sunday, 28 June 2026, from 06:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

The planned activity includes limited cluster failover and failback, backup restoration, and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) validation on selected back-office clusters and databases. These tests are essential to verify that critical postal applications and databases can be restored quickly and accurately in the event of a disaster.

During the maintenance window, users may experience temporary unavailability of APT and DREAM applications. Postal Circles have been instructed to inform all concerned offices, regulate operational activities during the maintenance period, avoid scheduling critical transactions dependent on these systems, and coordinate closely with CEPT in case of operational issues.

The Department has emphasized that this planned drill is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster recovery capabilities and ensure the resilience, availability, and reliability of critical postal IT infrastructure. Successful completion of the exercise will enhance preparedness for future emergencies while minimizing service disruption.
Postal employees and stakeholders are advised to plan their work accordingly and cooperate during the scheduled maintenance window. Normal services are expected to resume once the drill is successfully completed.
