Maharashtra Circle Announces MTS Vacancies for 2026 Recruitment Year
The Maharashtra Circle of the Department of Posts has officially released the notification regarding Multi Tasking Staff (MTS) vacancies for the year 2026 covering the period from 01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026. The notification has been issued for conducting the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) process and preparation for the upcoming PM-MG-MTS Examination 2026.

As per the circular dated 14.05.2026, the vacancies have been calculated according to the MTS Amendment Rules 2023 and prescribed reservation policies. The Circle Office has instructed all Regions and Units to complete the vacancy verification and DPC exercise within the prescribed timeline.
Recruitment Structure for MTS Vacancies
The notification explains that MTS vacancies will be filled through the following process:
100% appointment from Casual Labourers on the basis of seniority-cum-fitness.
If vacancies remain unfilled:
50% will be filled from willing GDS candidates of the recruiting division/unit on seniority-cum-fitness basis.
Remaining vacancies will be filled through Direct Recruitment Competitive Examination limited to GDS candidates of the recruiting Postal Circle.
Important Timeline for DPC Process
The Circle Office has fixed strict deadlines for completion of the recruitment exercise:
Nomination of DPC Members: up to 18.05.2026
Conduct of DPC: 19.05.2026 to 20.05.2026
Submission of filled/unfilled vacancies by Divisions/Units to Regions: up to 21.05.2026
Submission of consolidated report by Regions to Circle Office: up to 22.05.2026
