According to the communication dated 15 May 2026, a large number of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) documents are still pending verification across several postal circles. Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, and West Bengal circles were specifically highlighted for having significant pending cases.
The Department noted that delays in certificate verification can lead to serious administrative issues, including the possibility of candidates with fake certificates continuing in service undetected for long periods. It also affects GDS request transfers and increases grievances from employees, unions, and VIP references.
Further, the Department informed that the educational document verification APIs available through API Setu are temporary and may be withdrawn soon. Therefore, all circles have been instructed to complete verification of pending marksheets related to previous recruitment schedules by 31 May 2026. For the ongoing January 2026 schedule, verification must be completed within 30 days of receipt in the circle login, especially for boards integrated with API Setu verification facilities.
As per the annexure attached with the letter, a total of 18,639 marksheets are pending verification across the country. Haryana Circle reported the highest pendency with 3,939 cases, followed by Gujarat with 2,072, Telangana with 2,011, Maharashtra with 1,848, Punjab with 1,672, and West Bengal with 1,655 pending verifications.
The Department has urged all circles to prioritize the work and ensure timely completion to maintain transparency and integrity in the GDS recruitment process.
