LDCE and GDS Competitive Examination for PA/SA Posts Rescheduled to 28 June 2026
The Department of Posts has announced the postponement of the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) and the Competitive Examination for recruitment to the cadre of Postal Assistants (PA) and Sorting Assistants (SA) for the vacancy year 2026.

According to an order issued by the Department of Posts (DE Section), Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, the examinations that were originally scheduled to be held on 21 June 2026 will now be conducted on 28 June 2026 (Sunday) across all 23 Postal Circles in the country.
The rescheduling applies to:
Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to the posts of Postal Assistant (Circle Office and Regional Offices), Postal Assistant (Post Offices), and Sorting Assistant (Railway Mail Service) for eligible departmental officials against vacancies for the year 2026.
Competitive Examination for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs) for recruitment to the cadre of Postal Assistants and Sorting Assistants against unfilled LDCE vacancies for the year 2026.
The Department has clarified that only the date of examination has been changed, while all other terms, conditions, and schedules will remain unchanged. Postal Circles have been instructed to bring the revised schedule to the notice of all concerned candidates and upload the notification on their respective websites.
The order has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority and signed by Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director (DE), Department of Posts.
Key Update: Candidates appearing for the LDCE and GDS Competitive Examination for PA/SA posts should note that the examination will now be held on 28 June 2026 instead of 21 June 2026.1
