India Post Issues Important Advisory on COD Digital Transaction Problems – Update DSS App to Version 1.0.22
India Post Issues Important Advisory on COD Digital Transaction Problems – DSS App Version 1.0.22 Mandatory
India Post has issued an important technical advisory regarding Cash on Delivery (COD) digital transaction issues faced during delivery operations. The advisory was prepared after discussions between CEPT Hyderabad and Kerala Circle to resolve major technical problems related to DQR and SBI ePay payment processing.
According to the advisory, all users have been instructed to immediately update their devices to DSS App Version 1.0.22 to minimize delivery-related grievances in the field.
Major COD Transaction Issues Addressed
The advisory highlights three major problems that were affecting COD digital transactions during article delivery.
1. Payment Successful but Delivery Not Updating (DQR Issue)
One of the common issues reported was that customers successfully completed QR code payments, but the delivery remarks were not updated in the system. As a result, Postmen were unable to finalize delivery.
Resolution in Version 1.0.22
The updated version now allows users to:
- Re-open the Delivery module
- Select the COD article again
- Automatically recheck payment status
If payment is found successful, the article can now be marked as “Delivered.”
2. SBI ePay Amount Debited but Article Not Delivered
Another major issue involved cases where payment was deducted through SBI ePay, but the delivery process remained stuck.
Temporary Workaround
As per the advisory:
- SPM/SO users must log into the Web Portal instead of the DSS App
- Navigate to “Window Delivery”
- Verify payment status there
Once payment confirmation is visible, delivery status can be updated successfully.
Future Improvement Planned
India Post has also informed that a future update will include a dedicated:
“Fetch Transaction Status”
button directly inside the app to simplify the process and eliminate the need for portal login.
3. Amount Debited but Not Reflected in Wallet or Account
The advisory also clarified confusion regarding failed COD transactions where money was debited from the customer account but not reflected in the departmental system.
Important Clarification
According to the technical advisory:
- COD amount will reflect only after bank confirmation
- If transaction status remains “Failed”
- And payment cannot be verified through prescribed methods
then the transaction should be treated as failed.
No Escalation Required
In such cases:
- Staff should not escalate the issue unnecessarily
- The amount will be automatically refunded by the bank to the customer
Important Instructions for Postal Staff
The advisory has instructed all units to ensure:
- Devices are updated to Version 1.0.22
- Staff members are properly sensitized about the new procedures
- Field-level grievances are minimized through correct handling
