The updated rates were communicated through an official order dated 21 July 2025 issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle, Bengaluru.

According to the circular, the revised rates are linked with the implementation of the Parcel Packaging Card in APT 2.0, where a new compulsory service charge field has been introduced for counter Postal Assistants.

  • Premium Packaging Service

The rates vary based on:

  • Earlier instructions issued on 23 February 2024 regarding other charges remain unchanged

Objective Behind Revised Packaging Charges

The revised parcel packaging policy appears aimed at:

  • Standardizing packaging charges
  • Improving parcel safety during transmission
  • Streamlining packaging service accounting
  • Integrating packaging services with APT 2.0 operations

The move may also help improve customer experience through better packaging quality and transparency in service charges.

Conclusion

With integration into APT 2.0 and mandatory service charge entries, postal staff and customers are expected to experience a more transparent and organized parcel packaging process.
