BSF Combatised Para-Medical Cadre Group ‘B’ Recruitment Rules, 2026 Notified
The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially notified the Border Security Force (BSF) Combatised Para-Medical Cadre Group ‘B’ Recruitment Rules, 2026 through Gazette Notification dated 18 May 2026. The new rules replace the earlier 2013 recruitment rules for several para-medical posts in BSF and bring updated provisions related to recruitment, medical standards, pay levels, eligibility, and service conditions.
The notification has been issued under the powers conferred by the Border Security Force Act, 1968 and covers a wide range of para-medical posts including Nursing Staff, Pharmacists, Laboratory Technicians, Radiographers, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Dental Technicians, and Medics.
Key Highlights of the Recruitment Rules
Recruitment Rules Effective from Gazette Publication
The new rules are titled “Border Security Force, Combatised Para-Medical Cadre Group ‘B’ Post Recruitment Rules, 2026” and came into force from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
Medical Fitness Mandatory
For promotion to higher ranks, BSF personnel must meet the SHAPE-I medical category standard prescribed by the Government. Direct recruits must also satisfy the medical and physical standards laid down by the Ministry of Home Affairs for CAPFs and Assam Rifles.
Physical Standards Prescribed
The notification specifies detailed physical standards for candidates belonging to different categories and regions. For general category male candidates, the minimum height requirement is 165 cm, while for female candidates it is 155 cm. Relaxations have been provided for Scheduled Tribes, North Eastern States, Gorkha Territorial Administration areas, and other specified regions.

Important Service Conditions
The rules clearly state that appointed personnel:
Will be liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad
Must be Indian citizens, except citizens of Nepal or Bhutan with prior approval
Will retire at the age of 60 years unless otherwise prescribed by the Government
The notification also includes provisions related to marriage eligibility, relaxation powers of the Central Government, and protection of reservation benefits for SC/ST/OBC and other categories.

The pay scales range from ₹35,400 to ₹1,51,100 depending on the rank and post.
Existing Employees Protected
The notification provides that personnel already serving in these posts on a continuous basis before commencement of the rules will be deemed appointed under the new rules. Their previous service will continue to count for seniority, pension, probation, and promotion purposes.
