KARNATAKA STATE GOVERNMENT HOLIDAY CALENDAR – 2026
The Government of Karnataka has officially announced the public (general) holidays for the year 2026 applicable to all state government offices, institutions, and educational establishments across Karnataka. Along with these, employees may also avail themselves of restricted (optional) holidays subject to prior approval, as per rules.
This calendar helps citizens, government employees, businesses, and institutions plan their schedules, vacations, and operational activities for the year.

The Karnataka government has notified 20 public holidays for the year 2026, in addition to regular Sundays, 2nd & 4th Saturdays observed as holidays as per state norms. The Economic Times

📌 Restricted (Optional) Holidays
In addition to the above public holidays, the Karnataka Government has authorized a list of restricted holidays that employees may avail of with approval. This list includes cultural and religious observances such as New Year’s Day, Holi Festival, Shab-e-Barath, Sri Ramanavami, Holy Saturday, Varamahalakshmi Vrata, Yajur Upakarma, and more. Employees are allowed to select up to two restricted holidays per year, subject to the approval of the competent authority.

Sundays, 2nd & 4th Saturdays are generally holidays for state government offices.

Some widely celebrated festivals — e.g., Maha Shivaratri, Kannada Rajyotsava, Naraka Chaturdashi — may fall on weekends and hence are not included in the general holiday list. The Economic Times
