Department of Posts (DOP) Releases Calendar of Examinations for 2026
As per the circular issued vide F. No. DE-12/05/2025-DE-DOP, dated 30.12.2025, all Postal Circles have been directed to strictly adhere to the timelines specified in the examination calendar. The Department has also reiterated that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued on 11.08.2022, along with subsequent amendments dated 21.09.2023 and 13.01.2025, must be followed in letter and spirit while conducting these examinations.

Key Examinations Scheduled for 2026
The calendar outlines several important Limited Departmental Competitive Examinations (LDCEs) and Competitive Examinations, including:

LDCE for Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant (PA/SA)For promotion from eligible officials for the vacancy year 2026. Notifications are scheduled to be issued in April 2026, with examinations tentatively planned for 24 May 2026.

Competitive Examination for recruitment of PA/SA from GDSFor filling unfilled LDCE vacancies for the year 2026.

LDCE for Postman and Mail GuardFor promotion from eligible Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) officials, with examinations tentatively scheduled for 7 June 2026.

Common Competitive Examination for Postman, Mail Guard, and MTS from GDSTo be conducted for the vacancy year 2026.

LDCE for promotion to Postal Service Group ‘B’Covering vacancy years 2024, 2025, and 2026, with examinations tentatively scheduled in August 2026.

LDCE for promotion to Inspector of Posts (IP)For the vacancy year 2026, tentatively planned for 26 and 27 September 2026.
Other Examinations
The circular also notes that:

PO & RMS Accountant Examinations may be conducted by Circles as per existing instructions.

Motor Vehicle Section examinations, including recruitment of Drivers and Skilled Artisans (MMS), will be completed during the year 2026 following prescribed procedures.
Advisory to Circles
All Heads of Circles and concerned authorities have been advised to plan and execute the examinations strictly as per the approved calendar to ensure timely completion of the recruitment and promotion processes. Any deviation from the prescribed schedule should be avoided.
The calendar has been circulated to all Postal Training Centres, Directorates, CEPT Mysuru, recognized Unions and Federations, and other concerned offices for information and necessary action.
