This is regarding clarifications sought by Regions on the subject matter Grant of Combined Duty Allowance (CDA) to GDSs. The details of clarification sought by Regions and replies are furnished hereunder

Whether the Directorate on Grant  of  Combined  Duty Allowance   to   Branch Postmasters working at Single Handed Branch Post Offices can be implemented or not.


Yes. In this regard, kindly refer to Annexure I of Directorate OM No.17-31/2016-GDS   dated 25.06.2018.


Whether the Combined Duty Allowance may be granted to the BPMs working at double handed BOs and handling Mail delivery work along with BPM work or not? (i.e., where ABPM is working and handling only mail conveyance work)


Yes. In this regard, kindly refer to Annexure I of Directorate OM No.17-31/2016-GDS   dated 25.06.2018.

Minimum  distance  to  be travelled  by the BPMs  of single-handed BOs or  Mail conveyance work for grant of combined duty allowance.

There is no minimum distance condition for grant of combined duty allowance.


Whether  BPM  performing Delivery at BO village or BPM exchanging Mails at Bus Stand only or at Railway Station are also eligible to draw CDA of Rs.1170/- per month.

In case of drop in the workload of BPM as a result of Periodical Review,  possibility   of entrusting additional work by way of combination of duties of  mail  delivery  and conveyance may be examined for  justifying  retention  of Higher TRCA.

BPM is eligible for Combined duty allowance irrespective of the Lower TRCA or Higher TRCA, if the incumbent of the post of BPM is entrusted with Deliver and / or Conveyance work.

This has the approval of Chief Postmaster General.
