Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has planned to bring post offices under the core banking system across the country and if so, the details thereof including Assam:
(b) the details of the funds estimated therefor:
(c) the details of the targets set and the time by which it is likely to be made operational:
(d) whether it is true that 1.5 lakhs post offices will come under core banking system enabling financial inclusion and access to accounts through net banking, mobile banking, ATM ete. and if so, the details thereof:
(e) the details of the number of such post offices to be modemised in the North East Region (NER). State-wise break-up: and
(f) whether it will help the rural and remote areas of NER specially in difficult terrain of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) Yes Sir, the Government has planned to bring all the post offices under the core banking system across the country. Out of a total of 1,58,526 post offices across the country 1,52,514 post offices have already been brought under the core banking system. In Assam, 3,905 post offices out of 4,011 post offices have been brought under core banking system.
An amount of Rs. 703.58 Crore has been earmarked under the IT Modernization Project 1.0 Plan Scheme of the Department for core banking solution and core insurance solution.
