Karnataka Postal Circle Declares LDCE 2026 Results for Postman and Mail Guard Promotion

The Department of Posts, Karnataka Circle, Bengaluru has declared the results of the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) 2026 for promotion to the cadres of Postman and Mail Guard from eligible Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) officials.

The result was issued through Memo No. R&E/1-7/2026 dated 01 October 2026 by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle.

Examination Details

The LDCE for the vacancy year 2026 (01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026) was conducted on 12 July 2026 for eligible MTS officials of Karnataka Circle.

The Data Entry Skill Test (DEST – Paper IV) was conducted for candidates who qualified in Papers I, II and III on 30 August 2026. The provisional answer keys were published on 13 July 2026, while the final answer keys for Papers I, II and III were published on 24 August 2026.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

The memo specifies the following qualifying criteria:

The maximum marks for Papers I and II were revised to 142 instead of 150 following deletion of four questions from Paper I.

One-Year Relaxation in Service Eligibility

A one-year relaxation in the service eligibility condition was extended to Postman and Mail Guard candidates for the 2026 vacancy year in accordance with the relevant Directorate instructions.

The memo also clarifies that the LDCE is a promotional examination and therefore reservation in promotion for OBC and EWS candidates is not applicable; the minimum qualifying percentage prescribed for the UR category applies to them as well.

148 Vacancies Notified

The final vacancies for promotion to Postman and Mail Guard are:

  • Postman: 146 vacancies
    • UR: 111
    • SC: 23
    • ST: 12
  • Mail Guard: 2 vacancies
    • UR: 1
    • SC: 1
  • Total: 148 vacancies

In addition, the vacancy table includes horizontal reservation figures for VH, HH, OH and other categories.

Division-Wise Selection and Allocation

The memo states that the final distribution of vacancies division/unit-wise is enclosed as Annexure-I. The subsequent pages contain the candidate-wise details, including roll number, name, category, marks, DEST eligibility and the division/unit to which candidates have been allotted.

The memo also contains instructions relating to verification of candidate particulars, selection against vacancies, joining formalities and acceptance/declination of promotion.

Acceptance/Declination of Promotion

An Annexure-III Proforma for Submission of Acceptance/Declination is included at the end of the document. Candidates selected for promotion are required to indicate whether they accept or decline promotion to the Postman/Mail Guard cadre for vacancy year 2026.

The document therefore marks an important stage in the 2026 LDCE promotion process for MTS officials in Karnataka Circle, with the final selection list, vacancy allocation and prescribed formalities now issued by the Circle.
