Dak Saathi App: Comprehensive Digital Platform for GDS and Departmental Employee Services

The Department of Posts has introduced the My Employee App Mobile Application – Dak Saathi, an APT 2.0-based digital platform designed to provide employees with convenient access to a wide range of self-service and employee-related services through a mobile application.

The Operational Guide, Document Version 1.0.16 dated 17 August 2026, provides detailed instructions for using the application and covers services for both Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) and Departmental Employees.

Secure Login and Authentication

Dak Saathi provides secure access through multi-factor authentication. Users log in using their User ID and password and receive an OTP on their registered mobile number for verification. The application also provides a Forgot Password facility using OTP-based verification.

The application assigns different roles, including End User, Approving Authority, Authorized Officer, Service Desk Team and CEPT Administrator, supporting request processing, approvals, user assistance and centralized application administration.

Aadhaar-Based Attendance

One of the important features of Dak Saathi is the Capture Attendance module for GDS employees.

The application allows daily attendance to be recorded using Aadhaar-based OTP or biometric authentication. After one-time Aadhaar registration, employees can use the available authentication method to mark Mark In at the beginning of duty and Mark Out at the end of the working day.

For biometric authentication, the operational guide specifies the use of the Mantra MFS 110 biometric scanner along with the Mantra L1 RD Service installed on the mobile device.

GDS Employee Self-Service

The GDS home page provides quick access to frequently used services, including:

  • Capture Attendance
  • TRCA
  • Leave
  • Transfer
  • Training
  • Service Desk
  • E-Engagement Roll
  • Miscellaneous Services

This provides a single mobile interface for accessing various employee services.

Profile and Family Details

Employees can view their personal, contact and posting information through the Profile section. The application also provides facilities to add and update family details and track the status of submitted requests.

Family details submitted through the application are forwarded to the concerned authority for approval, while the Status section allows employees to monitor whether their requests are Approved, Failed or Pending.

Communication Details

Employees can review and modify their communication and address details through the application. Information such as mobile number, official and personal email IDs, address, Aadhaar reference number and PAN details can be maintained, subject to the prescribed validations.

Submitted modifications are forwarded to the concerned authority for approval, and employees can subsequently track the status of their requests.

TRCA Slip

The TRCA module enables GDS employees to generate and view their TRCA slips for a selected month and year.

The generated slip is displayed in PDF format, allowing employees to review earnings, deductions and net pay and download the document for future reference.

Digital Leave Management

Dak Saathi provides a dedicated Leave Dashboard through which employees can:

  • Apply for leave
  • Cancel eligible leave applications
  • View holidays
  • Access leave reports
  • View charge reports

Leave applications are routed to the authorized officer for approval. Employees can also view their leave history for a selected date range.

Transfer and Other Employee Services

The application also includes a Transfer module through which employees can apply for transfers, track application status, view transfer schedules and access related documents.

The operational guide further lists services covering training, service desk and ticket management, E-Engagement Roll, bank details, request tracking, NOC services, performance dashboard, notifications and other employee self-service facilities.

Services for Departmental Employees

Dak Saathi is not limited to GDS employees. The operational guide contains a separate Department Employees Section, covering login, attendance registration, employee profile, family and communication details, payroll dashboard, LTC, EL encashment, TA tour, medical bill reimbursement, transfer TA reimbursement, Children Education Allowance, training reimbursement, income-tax declaration, claims, payment requests, NOC services and leave-related functions.

A Single Digital Employee Service Platform

The Dak Saathi Operational Guide describes the application as a platform intended to provide standardized access to employee services, with workflows covering authentication, profile management, attendance, leave, transfers, training, service desk functions, performance information, notifications and other self-service activities.

The guide also clarifies that it is an operational reference for using the APT software solution and should not be treated as a Departmental ruling; users are advised to refer to the applicable manuals and official rules for such matters.

Conclusion

Dak Saathi brings a broad range of employee services into a single mobile application under APT 2.0. With facilities ranging from Aadhaar-based attendance and TRCA slips to leave, transfer, claims, training, NOC and service-desk functions, the application is designed to support digital, self-service access to employee-related services for GDS and departmental employees.
