Post Office Customers Can Now Apply for Personalized Cheque Book Online: SB Order 08 2026

India Post Introduces Online Personalized Cheque Book Request Through Internet Banking – Effective from 18 July 2026

The Department of Posts has introduced a new online facility that enables Post Office Savings Account (POSA) customers to request a Personalized Cheque Book (PCB) directly through Post Office Internet Banking. The facility became operational on 18 July 2026, providing customers with a faster and more convenient way to obtain a cheque book without visiting a post office.

Online Cheque Book Request Now Available

As per SB Order No. 08/2026 issued by the Financial Services Division, Ministry of Communications, the online request facility has been launched as an extension of the Personalized Cheque Book service introduced earlier through SB Order No. 05/2026. Customers with active Internet Banking credentials can now submit their requests online from anywhere.

Key Features

  • Request a Personalized Cheque Book through Post Office Internet Banking.
  • No need to visit the Post Office.
  • The account holder's name will be pre-printed on every cheque leaf.
  • The cheque book will be delivered to the registered address of the primary account holder.
  • Active Internet Banking User ID and Login Password are mandatory for using the service.

How to Apply Online

Customers can request a cheque book by following these steps:

  1. Log in to Post Office Internet Banking.
  2. Navigate to General Services → Service Requests → New Requests.
  3. Select Personalized Cheque Book Request.
  4. Choose Request Cheque Book under the Type of Operation.
  5. Select the Savings Account.
  6. Accept the Terms and Conditions.
  7. Submit the request and authenticate it using the transaction password.
  8. A reference ID (Cyber Receipt) will be generated after successful submission.

Charges

  • Up to 10 cheque leaves per calendar year are provided free of cost.
  • Beyond the free limit, a charge of ₹2 per cheque leaf will be automatically debited from the selected Savings Account at the time of placing the request.

Track Cheque Book Status Online

Customers can also check the status of their Personalized Cheque Book request through Internet Banking by selecting PCB Status Inquiry. The portal displays:

  • Request status (Verified/Completed)
  • Beginning cheque number
  • Number of cheque leaves
  • Dispatch date
  • Speed Post tracking number for tracking the shipment on the India Post website.
