RTI Awareness to Become Part of Postal Training Sessions Across India
Department of Posts Directs Training Centres to Promote RTI Awareness During Training Programmes
The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has issued an important communication emphasizing the need to strengthen awareness and understanding of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005 during departmental training programmes across the country.
As per the letter issued by the Training Division, Dak Bhawan, New Delhi dated 12.05.2026, all Postal Training Centres (PTCs), Regional Training Centres (RTCs), and Circle-level training institutions have been instructed to incorporate suitable RTI awareness measures in their regular training sessions.
Focus on RTI Do’s and Don’ts
The department has specifically requested that while training operative heads and officials, special emphasis should be laid on:
Proper dissemination of information under the RTI Act
Important Do’s and Don’ts relating to RTI handling
Strengthening awareness regarding transparency and accountability
Encouraging wider participation in RTI-related programmes
The communication also advises participants to further circulate RTI-
related information among public authorities functioning under their jurisdiction so that awareness regarding the RTI framework can be improved at all levels.RTI Course Available on iGOT Karmayogi
The letter further informs that the Department of Posts has developed a dedicated course on Right to Information named “Prarambh”, which is available on the iGOT Karmayogi online learning platform.
Officials concerned, particularly CPIOs and APIOs, are encouraged to undertake the course for better understanding and effective implementation of RTI provisions.
The course can be accessed through the iGOT Karmayogi portal.
Issued with Approval of Competent Authority
The instructions have been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority and a copy of the letter has also been forwarded to CEPT, Bengaluru for publishing on the India Post website for wider publicity.
