Bonus Rates for Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) for FY 2026-27
This declaration has been made under Rule 3 of Post Office Life Insurance Rules (2011), based on the Actuarial Valuation of the assets and liabilities of the Rural Post Office Life Insurance Fund (RPOLIF) as on 31st March 2025.
The notification was issued vide F. No. 04-02/2025-LI and signed by Tanweer Qamar Mohammad, Chief General Manager (PLI).
Bonus Rates Announced for Different RPLI Policies
The Director General Postal Services has approved the following simple Reversionary Bonus rates, payable when policies become claims due to death or maturity:
1. Whole Life Assurance (WLA)

Bonus Rate: ₹60 per ₹1000 sum assured
2. Endowment Assurance (EA)

Bonus Rate: ₹48 per ₹1000 sum assured

(Including Children policies)
3. Anticipated Endowment Assurance (AEA)

Bonus Rate: ₹45 per ₹1000 sum assured

(Including Gram Priya policies)
4. Convertible Whole Life Assurance (CWLA)
-
Whole Life bonus rate will apply initially

After conversion, Endowment Assurance bonus rate will apply
5. Terminal Bonus

Rate: ₹20 per ₹10,000 sum assured

Maximum limit: ₹1000

Applicable for Whole Life Assurance and Endowment Assurance policies having a term of 20 years or more
Effective Date of Bonus Rates
The above bonus rates are applicable for the Financial Year 2026-27 and will come into effect from:

Interim Bonus Also Applicable
The Department has also clarified that an Interim Bonus at the same rates will be payable for all claims arising due to death or maturity, until the next valuation is completed.
Rounding Off Rule
The notification further states that:

Bonus amount involving fraction of 50 paisa or more will be rounded off to the next higher rupee

Fraction below 50 paisa will be ignored
Conclusion
This notification brings clarity and assurance to RPLI policyholders regarding the bonus benefits payable in FY 2026-27.
