The move comes after 13 years, the last revision having taken place in 2012. According to the Department, the changes are aimed at streamlining operations, improving service timelines, and offering greater customer convenience while keeping tariffs competitive in comparison to market players.

Key Highlights

1. Rationalization of Services

  • Registered Post will not be discontinued. Instead, it will continue as a value-added service of “Registration” under Speed Post Document and Parcel categories.

  • Registration charges reduced drastically from ₹17 to just ₹5 (plus GST).

  • This ensures addressee-specific secure delivery at a nominal cost.

Why the Revision?

The DoP highlighted that operational costs (manpower, technology, logistics) have risen significantly since 2012, while new features like OTP delivery and real-time updates add value for customers.
Despite the increase, the revised tariff is still 30–50% lower than competitors, keeping Speed Post one of the most affordable and reliable services in India.

📌 Effective Date: All changes, including tariff revision, rationalization, and discount structures, will be implemented from October 1, 2025.
