Fixation of increment to GDS (Gramin Dak Sevaks) counting LWA (Leave Without Allowance) as qualifying service and the clarification

No.ESA/13-3/DLGS/IV dated at Bengaluru, the 12.09.2022

Subject: Clarification on fixation of increment to GDS-regarding

This is regarding fixation of increment to the GDS counting LWA as qualifying service and the clarification is as below:

The period of LWA(Leave Without Allowance) is qualifying service for the purpose of increment. LWA is not unauthorised absence. It is legitimately granted in accordance with GDS Terms of Service. For the period of LWA, the GDS nominate a substitute. If LWA disqualifies GDS from getting increment, effectively, the GDS would not get any increment, even if one day leave is availed. Hence it is clarified that 12 months continuous engagement includes the period of LWA.

This has the approval of Chief Postmaster General.
