Department of Posts Releases Revised & Recast LDCE Postal Service Group 'B' Results Following CAT Order and PwBD Reservation
The Department of Posts has issued the revised and recast results of the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to Postal Service Group 'B' for multiple vacancy years. The revised results have been published following the implementation of the Hon'ble CAT Ernakulam Bench's order dated 28 November 2025 in OA No. 194/2023 and the extension of reservation in promotion for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBDs) from the vacancy year 2016-17 onwards.

Background
The Department reviewed the earlier LDCE results after deciding to implement the CAT Ernakulam Bench's judgment and apply the reservation policy for PwBD candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). Consequently, revised select lists have been prepared for the vacancy years 2017-18 to 2023, while the result for the vacancy year 2016-17 remains unchanged.
Revised Vacancy Position
The notification reproduces the revised year-wise vacancy position for both IP Line (19%) and Clerical Line (6%), including vertical reservation (UR, SC, ST) and horizontal reservation for PwBD categories (VH, HH, OH and Others). It also explains that certain PwBD vacancies of 2016-17 have been carried forward due to the non-availability of eligible candidates.
Cascading Effect on Subsequent Results
The Department has clarified that inclusion of additional vacancies for the year 2017-18 resulted in a cascading effect on later years. Since some candidates selected for 2017-18 were also figuring in the select lists of subsequent years, the Department revised the later select lists by replacing such candidates with fresh selections based on merit.
PwBD Reservation Implemented
The revised results incorporate horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates as per DoPT guidelines. Where eligible candidates were unavailable under earmarked categories, the vacancies have been carried forward to subsequent years in accordance with the applicable reservation rules.
Merit-Based Selection
The Department has stated that selections have been made strictly on the basis of merit, the earliest year of eligibility, and the prescribed tie-breaking principles. In cases where candidates secured equal marks, seniority in the feeder cadre and age have been considered in accordance with existing departmental instructions.
Important Instructions
The Department has directed all Heads of Circles to verify the eligibility of selected candidates, including the authenticity of PwBD disability certificates wherever applicable. If any selected candidate is later found to be ineligible or if any error is noticed in the declaration of results, appropriate action may be taken, including deletion of the candidate's name from the select list.
Promotion Subject to Court Outcome
The notification also clarifies that any promotions made based on these revised results shall remain subject to the final outcome of the proceedings pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of Jarnail Singh & Others vs. Lachhmi Narain Gupta & Others and other connected matters.
Annexures
The order includes Annexures A to G, containing the revised select lists for the vacancy years:
- 2017-18
- 2018
- 2019
- 2020
- 2021
- 2022
- 2023
These annexures provide the names, circles, roll numbers, category, marks obtained, total score, and remarks for the selected candidates.
Conclusion
With the publication of the revised and recast LDCE Postal Service Group 'B' results, the Department of Posts has implemented the CAT Ernakulam Bench's directions and extended the benefit of PwBD reservation in promotion from the vacancy year 2016-17 onwards. The revised select lists are expected to ensure compliance with judicial directions and applicable reservation policies while maintaining merit-based selection.
