NAPE-C Raises Concern Over Prolonged Vacancies of CPMG and PMG Posts in Kerala Circle
The National Association of Postal Employees Group ‘C’ (NAPE-C) has urged the Department of Posts to take immediate steps to fill the vacant posts of Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), Kerala Circle, and Postmaster General (PMG), Northern Region, Kerala Circle, highlighting the adverse impact of these vacancies on postal administration and employee welfare.

In a representation addressed to the Secretary, Department of Posts, NAPE-C expressed serious concern over the prolonged absence of regular incumbents in these crucial leadership positions. The association pointed out that the post of Chief Postmaster General became vacant following the retirement of Shri Renjith Kumar on 31 May 2026. Subsequently, the Directorate reportedly redeployed the sanctioned post and entrusted the additional charge of Kerala Circle to the Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle.
The association further noted that the post of Postmaster General, Northern Region, Kerala Circle, has remained vacant for nearly three years without a regular appointment, creating administrative challenges in one of the country's important Postal Circles.
According to NAPE-C, the absence of regular administrative heads can affect critical functions such as policy implementation, supervision of field units, personnel administration, grievance redressal, conduct of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs), declaration of promotion results, and overall monitoring of Circle performance. The association emphasized that Kerala Circle, considering its size and operational importance, requires dedicated full-time leadership to ensure efficient functioning and timely decision-making.
The association also expressed concern over the diversion of a sanctioned Circle Head post for the creation of a Directorate-level position, stating that such arrangements may not serve the larger interests of effective postal administration.
In its appeal, NAPE-C has requested the Department to appoint a regular Chief Postmaster General for Kerala Circle at the earliest, fill the long-pending vacancy of Postmaster General, Northern Region, without further delay, and evolve a policy mechanism to prevent prolonged vacancies in senior leadership positions across Postal Circles.
The association has expressed confidence that timely intervention by the Department will help safeguard administrative efficiency, improve employee welfare, and ensure the smooth functioning of postal services in Kerala Circle.
