Aadhaar Fee Collection Workflow

The enclosed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP Version 1.0 dated 06.07.2026) explains the complete workflow for collecting Aadhaar generation and Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) fees using the APT Booking Solution. The transaction begins in the UIDAI-authorized Aadhaar application, after which the operator records the transaction in the APT Retail Services – Aadhaar Services module.

The process involves:

  1. Completing the Aadhaar enrolment or update in the vendor system.

  2. Obtaining the vendor-generated Reference ID.

  3. Selecting the appropriate Aadhaar service in APT.

  4. Entering customer details, including name, mobile number, and Reference ID.

  5. Adding the transaction to the cart for verification.

  6. Reviewing or deleting transactions before payment.

  7. Processing payment using the available payment modes and generating the receipt.

  8. Verifying the transaction in the CounterOps report.

  9. Completing day-end "Submit Accounts" for proper accounting.

Digital Payment Options

The APT Booking Solution supports multiple payment methods for Aadhaar transactions, including:

  • Cash

  • UPI/QR

  • SBI e-Pay

  • SBI POS

After successful payment, the system automatically updates the transaction and generates a receipt for the customer.

Compliance and Control Measures

The SOP emphasizes strict operational controls to ensure accurate accounting and prevent errors. Counter officials must:

  • Verify the vendor-generated Reference ID before accepting payment.

  • Review the transaction in the cart before proceeding with payment.

  • Complete day-end accounting and cash transfer procedures as per departmental guidelines.

Benefits of the New Facility

The introduction of online Aadhaar payments through the APT Booking Solution is expected to:

  • Promote digital payments at Post Office Aadhaar Centres.

  • Improve transparency and accuracy in fee collection.

  • Reduce manual errors in accounting.

  • Provide faster receipt generation and transaction tracking.

  • Ensure standardized reporting through CounterOps.

The Department has advised all Postal Circles to implement the new facility immediately and ensure that all Post Office Aadhaar Centres adopt the online payment mechanism for Aadhaar enrolment and update services wherever applicable.
