Major Administrative Reorganization in Tamil Nadu Postal Circle

Tamil Nadu Circle Reorganises Circle Office Posts to Strengthen Functional Efficiency

The Tamil Nadu Circle of the Department of Posts has initiated a significant administrative restructuring at the Circle Office level, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and aligning key positions with emerging business and service requirements. Orders issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle, Chennai, on 5 June 2026, provide for the redesignation of several posts and the temporary attachment of selected officers to the Circle Office with immediate effect.

Key Posts Redesignated

As part of the restructuring exercise, the following posts have been redesignated:

  • DDM (PLI), Circle OfficeAPMG (FS), Circle Office
  • APMG (Mails & MMU), Circle OfficeAPMG (Parcel & Logistics), Circle Office
  • ASP (BD), Circle OfficeASP (Parcel & Logistics), Circle Office
  • SAS-II, Circle OfficeASP (MMR), Circle Office

The redesignation reflects the Department's growing emphasis on financial services, parcel logistics, and business development activities, while ensuring better functional specialization within the Circle Office.

Temporary Attachments to Circle Office

In addition to redesignation of posts, several officers have been temporarily attached to the Circle Office and assigned new responsibilities:

  • Incharge BNPL, Anna Road, Airmail Sorting Division attached as AD (MMR), Circle Office
  • ASP Chennai PSO attached as ASP (FS), Circle Office
  • ASP GPO Stg attached as ASP (Establishment), Circle Office
  • IP (Mails & Capts), Foreign Post, Chennai attached as IP Circle MMU, Circle Office
  • IP PSO/1, Chennai Sorting Division attached as IP (BD), Circle Office

The officers will continue to draw their pay from their respective parent units as specified in the orders.

Focus on Emerging Business Areas

The reorganization underscores the Department's strategic focus on expanding parcel and logistics operations, strengthening financial services, and improving management monitoring mechanisms. With e-commerce growth and increasing customer expectations, the creation and redesignation of posts dedicated to Parcel & Logistics and Financial Services is expected to provide greater operational focus and improve service delivery.

Towards a More Dynamic Postal Administration

The latest restructuring demonstrates Tamil Nadu Circle's proactive approach to adapting its administrative framework to evolving business needs. By optimizing manpower deployment and redefining responsibilities, the Circle aims to strengthen governance, improve coordination, and enhance the overall effectiveness of postal operations across the state.

The changes have come into effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders.
