Department of Posts Announces Additional Charge and Statutory Charge Arrangements for Vacant Senior and Junior Administrative Posts

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has issued an Office Memorandum regarding additional charge and statutory charge arrangements for vacant posts in the Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) and Junior Administrative Grade (JAG) of the Indian Postal Service (IPoS), Group ‘A’. The orders have been issued to ensure uninterrupted administrative functioning across various Postal Circles and Units.

Major Arrangements in Karnataka Circle

Several key positions in Karnataka Circle have been assigned additional charge arrangements:

The vacant post of PMG, North Karnataka Region, Dharwad has been assigned to the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle.

The vacant post of PMG, HQ Region, Bengaluru has been assigned to the General Manager, CEPT, Bengaluru.

The vacant post of PMG, South Karnataka Region, Bengaluru has also been assigned to the Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Circle.

In the Junior Administrative Grade, the post of DPS, South Karnataka Region will continue to be held as additional charge by the Director, CEPT (O&M), Bengaluru until the joining of Shri Akhil R. Nair.

Nationwide Charge Arrangements

The order covers numerous vacant positions across Postal Circles including Assam, Bihar, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, North East, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and others. Officers have been entrusted with either additional charge or statutory charge responsibilities to ensure continuity of administration and service delivery.

No Additional Remuneration

The Department has clarified that officers assigned these additional or statutory charges shall discharge these responsibilities in addition to their existing duties and without any extra remuneration. These arrangements will remain effective immediately and continue until further orders or until regular incumbents assume charge, whichever is earlier.

Directorate Retains Authority

The Postal Directorate has reiterated that all arrangements concerning vacant SAG and JAG posts in Postal Circles will continue to be decided centrally by the Directorate. However, Chief Postmasters General (CPMsG) may make temporary arrangements for short-term vacancies arising due to leave or similar circumstances to ensure smooth functioning of their respective Circles and Units.
