NAPE Raises Concern Over McCamish Software Glitch Affecting Baal Jeevan Bima Business

The National Association of Postal Employees (NAPE), Group 'C', Rajasthan Circle, has brought to the notice of the Federation of National Postal Organisations (FNPO) a critical technical issue in the McCamish insurance software that is adversely affecting the sale of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Children's Policies, popularly known as Baal Jeevan Bima.

In a letter addressed to FNPO Secretary General Shri Sivaji Vasireddy on 3 June 2026, Regional Secretary Shri Pradeep Vashishtha highlighted that despite the Competent Authority approving the removal of the condition requiring a parent to hold an existing PLI/RPLI policy for purchasing a Children's Policy, the McCamish system has not yet been updated to reflect this policy change.

As a result, whenever operators attempt to process a new Children's Policy application, the software continues to treat the parent's existing policy details as a mandatory field. This validation error prevents staff from submitting applications for customers who do not already possess a PLI or RPLI policy, effectively blocking the issuance of new policies.

The association has expressed concern that many prospective customers interested in securing Baal Jeevan Bima for their children are being turned away due to this software limitation. The issue is not only causing inconvenience to the public but is also resulting in a significant loss of business and premium revenue for the Department of Posts.

NAPE has urged FNPO to take up the matter with the Member (Technology), Postal Services Board, and the technical team at CEPT, Mysore, seeking an immediate software patch or update to remove the outdated validation requirement. The association emphasized that timely intervention would provide relief to field staff and enable the department to fully benefit from the policy reform aimed at expanding access to Children's Policies.
