India Post Revises Transaction Charges for Passport and PCC Applications at POPSKs

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has announced a revision in transaction charges for Passport and Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) applications processed through Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs).

As per the official communication issued by the Parcel & CCS Directorate, Dak Bhawan, New Delhi, dated 26 May 2026, the revised charges will come into effect retrospectively from 1 January 2026.

The revision follows discussions between the Department of Posts and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). It has been decided to increase the existing transaction charges by 15%, in accordance with Para 6.1 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The Directorate has instructed all Postal Circles to revise invoices accordingly and ensure uniform implementation of the updated charges for all claims and invoices from 1 January 2026 onwards.

It has also been clarified that rounding off should not be done for individual transactions. Instead, rounding may be applied only on the total amount.

The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Rekha Sethi, Assistant Director (CCS).
