📢 India Post BO Income Enhancement Plan – Key Update

The Department of Posts has issued important guidelines regarding the BO (Branch Post Office) Income Enhancement Plan for FY 2022-23. The initiative aims to increase revenue contribution from Branch Offices (BOs) by setting clear service targets and expected income benchmarks.

The instructions were issued by the Director General Postal Services to improve operational efficiency and financial performance across all BOs.

🎯 Objective of the Plan

  • Provide a roadmap for BPMs (Branch Postmasters)

  • 70% revenue attributed to BOs from:

  • 30% commission considered from:

    • Registered & Speed Post delivery

🟢 1. Single-Handed BO (Annexure I)

  • Estimated Annual Expenditure: ₹2,70,000

  • Expected Revenue: ₹2,71,067

Key Targets:

  • 1250 POSB accounts

  • 600 pension transactions

  • 240 registered articles booking

  • 120 speed post bookings

  • PLI & RPLI premium collection

👉 Focus: Basic service expansion and account activation

🟡 2. Double-Handed BO (Annexure II)

  • Estimated Annual Expenditure: ₹3,30,000

  • Expected Revenue: ₹3,46,211

Key Targets:

  • 1500 POSB accounts

  • 1200 transactions (pension/wage accounts)

  • 600 registered articles

  • 300 speed post bookings

  • Higher insurance & premium collection

👉 Focus: Increased transaction volume and service diversification

🔵 3. Triple-Handed BO & Above (Annexure III)

  • Estimated Annual Expenditure: ₹4,50,000

  • Expected Revenue: ₹4,48,247

Key Targets:

  • 1900 POSB accounts

  • 1800 transactions

  • 720 registered articles

  • 360 speed post bookings

  • Large-scale PLI/RPLI premium collection
