Department of Posts (DOP) Issues Guidelines on ATM Cards under Post Office Savings Bank
The Department of Posts has issued directions regarding the issuance of ATM cards under the Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) to ensure smooth delivery and utilization across all Post Offices. Key points from the communication are as follows:
1. Supply of ATM Card Kits

Printing and supply of both Instant and Personalized ATM cards have commenced.

Over 2 lakh new Instant ATM Card Kits have been supplied to Post Offices based on the indents placed by the Circles.
2. Utilization of Old ATM Card Stock

A review of ATM Card Kit stock at Post Offices revealed that around 15,000+ Post Offices still have old ATM card stock available in their Sales and Operations Locations (SOLs).

Circle-level SOL-wise lists are being shared with each Circle via email.

Circles are requested to ensure that these ATM Kits are issued within the next three months.

Diversion of old stock to needy Post Offices may be facilitated to ensure 100% utilization.
3. Indenting Process for New ATM Cards

After reviewing the availability status, Circle CBS CPCs may be instructed to place indents to CPRC Chennai as per the existing process.
4. Customer Awareness and Promotion

Post Offices are advised to create awareness among customers about the availability of ATM cards.

Customers should be encouraged to approach the nearest Post Office to avail ATM cards.

Customers with expired or expiring ATM cards should be motivated to opt for Personalized ATM Cards.
