FNPO Seeks Enhancement of Bonus Ceiling from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000 and Early Release of PLB Bonus 2025–26 for Postal Employees
FNPO Seeks Enhancement of Bonus Ceiling from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000 and Early Release of PLB for 2025–26
The Federation of National Postal Organisation (FNPO) has urged the Department of Posts to take immediate action for enhancement of the Bonus/ Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) calculation ceiling from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000 per month and for the early issue of PLB orders for the financial year 2025–26.
In a letter dated 23 September 2026 addressed to the Secretary (Posts), Department of Posts, FNPO highlighted the long-pending demand for revision of the bonus calculation ceiling for postal employees.
Demand to Increase Bonus Ceiling
FNPO pointed out that the existing ceiling of ₹7,000 per month has remained unchanged for a considerable period, despite significant increases in the cost of living, prices of essential commodities, household expenses, education, healthcare and other necessities.
The Federation stated that the existing ceiling has consequently lost much of its relevance under present economic conditions.
Support for ₹21,000 Ceiling
FNPO also stated that the Staff Side of the National Council (JCM) has been pursuing the demand before the Government for enhancement of the bonus ceiling from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000.
According to the letter, the National Council (Staff Side), JCM, had taken up the matter with the Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training (DoP&T), during its meeting held on 03 September 2026.
FNPO has extended its full support to the demand and requested the Department of Posts to pursue the matter with the Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure, and DoP&T on priority.
Early Release of PLB for 2025–26
Apart from enhancement of the bonus ceiling, FNPO has requested the Department to initiate necessary administrative and financial action for sanction and early release of Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for the financial year 2025–26.
The Federation highlighted that the Durga Puja/Dussehra festival season is approaching and that timely payment of PLB would provide important financial assistance to postal employees in meeting additional family and festival-related expenses.
FNPO also referred to previous years when PLB orders were not issued sufficiently before Durga Puja, thereby reducing the usefulness of the festival-time payment.
Two Immediate Demands
FNPO has requested the Secretary (Posts) to intervene and take immediate action on the following:
Take up the matter with the Ministry of Finance/DoP&T for enhancement of the Bonus/PLB calculation ceiling from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000.
Initiate necessary action for sanction and release of PLB for the financial year 2025–26 sufficiently in advance of Durga Puja/Dussehra.
The Federation expressed hope that the demands, concerning a large number of postal employees, would receive favourable consideration and requested an early action and reasoned reply from the Department.
